Disabling CPU consuming extensions and themes
Blair: No go for me. Uploading a picture, it's small.. This seems to have worked! Of course I'd like to have Adblock enabled : This quickfix will do for now. I'm running Chrome version 5. Only noticed the high CPU usage today.
No extensions on Google Chrome - so not a problem with Adblock. Like others, the problem only exists with web pages running Flash. It won't stop, even if i force quit the program. Same thing happens to me. I tried existing chrome, force quit, chearing cache, and cookies sad day. Nothing worked.
I restarted. Its back down to where it should be, but there are still two processes running, so I'm assuming the problem will come back. This used to happen all the time, but then quitting chrome would fix it. I recently installed flash Its that or the google find in text extention. OSX ALTRI At the moment it's low but at times it eats the cpu and memory of the machine especially when Chrome has been open for a while.
I tend to have to restart Chrome which happens every few hours. When in high usage my mac and Chrome is unusable. There doesn't seem to be any one particular site that causes it but just a continued hogging of the resources over time.

I hate Adobe Company. Every time I want to run a video on Yahoo Firefox, where the video is supposed to be, it says that I have to update my Adobe Flash Player. I know this is some kind of gimmick but I don't know what to do about it. Thank you Tehhaxorrme! It is like downloading a massive goo into the computer, slows down most operations and gets unwanted ads to boot. Is free but we should charge them for allowing them to install that on our computers. Read reply 1. Ever since version 18 was released, sites that formerly took a couple of seconds to load literally take a couple of minutes.
I've disabled flash, and things are fine again. Regarding sites I visit that require flash, I'll be switching to competitors that don't use it. I hate to say it, but really is time for Flash to disappear and only free video formats to be used!
